Josh and I are headed to Puerto Rico on May 10. We are going to spend some time working with sea turtles and hanging out with my Dad and his girlfriend. Aside from the turtles, scuba diving and swimming in the bio luminescent bay are on the top of my list. We have been looking forward to this trip since before we got married and we are super excited! Now that it is almost here, it is still hard to believe. Thinking about our plans and the idea of seeing a 6ft sea turtle seems surreal, we can hardly believe it is really happening!
Every time I tell someone about it, I have to stop and think - is it Puerto Rico or Costa Rica? I have ties to both, Jim goes to Puerto Rico annually, and Belle's Godfather has a place in Costa Rica that we talk about all the time. I think what really gets me is the fact that their names are practically the same! I retained enough Spanish to know that both are "Rich water/land interfaces", and somehow that is enough in my head to confuse the heck out of me.
Hopefully, writing this post will cement in my mind: WE ARE GOING TO PUERTO RICO!!
We will provide all the details for you when we get back!

Step!
I've started taking a step aerobics class at the gym Josh and I use. It is super fun and every time I go I have a blast. This is what I looked like when I got home from class yesterday.
Josh says the headband makes me look like I mean business. It is a great work out, and my brain is challenged by trying to figure out all the choreography and the different moves. Have you ever tried a step aerobics class?!
I pick up a little more every time I go, but right now I'm at about 75% of actually hitting all the moves. The instructor, Koko, introduces at least one new move every class. I'm completely lost on the "four corners, half skip turn, knee-walk away" combo, and I still don't know what the heck the "mambo cha cha" is.
I can dance, but when I'm trying to count out the steps in class I feel like I have the rhythm of a Republican senator. Thank Goodness for the "basic left", I totally get that one.

The Dining Room
We finally got to the dining room. Josh started it by patching the walls and sanding them.
There was a monster crack that did not want to be covered up. Josh repaired it three times before he defeated it forever.
Next it was time to prime and paint. We covered the floor and taped up the corners.
Even Leonard helped!
We decided on a nice cool gray for the dining room. The living room will eventually be a lighter shade of the same color gray.
Josh took his time and developed the perfect window trim. I think it matches the 60's feel of the house and is still modern enough to look relevant. I love our dining room and it is getting me excited to do the rest of the interior!

Where were you?
Josh was checking out the Google satellite view of his office and noticed that they were in the process of moving their work trailer when the photo was taken.
Which meant that it was August 26-28, 2011.
Which meant that we were on our annual trip on Camano Island.
Which means...here we are! (If you click on the pictures they get bigger)
Here is a close up of the Beach Cabin where we stay. You can see Josh's car out front with the box on it and my car out back with the sun roof. There are four chairs out front where we enjoyed our morning coffee.
This is a close up of us on the beach. You can't tell who is who, but those are definitely our shadows lined up in those beach chairs. It is kind of a muddle, so I circled the beach chairs, and one of us who was either throwing rocks (Josh) or throwing a ball for the dogs (Tony).
Last but not least. One of the best parts of the Camano trip is the Crab. Here is our rowboat out hunting for the crab. Johnny rowed for most of the weekend so he is probably the one steering, not sure who else is in it (probably Belle or me), but it is definitely part of our crew.
I really wish that the "Enhance" feature was available to us non-tv-crime-show folks. My excitement about finding us on the Google Satellite view may be disproportionate to what it actually is...but this is us...FROM SPACE!!
Where were you that weekend?
Here is the link to the map if you want to play around with it, or type in your address and find where you were.

Saturday
Josh and I spent Saturday at home being productive. I cleaned the bathrooms and picked up the house, and Josh did our taxes. We both did a fantastic job, and I think we were equally happy not to be stuck doing the other person's task.
We enjoyed an excellent dinner at Indochina with Jim and Karen and managed get in bed early at around 10:30.
It was about 1 in the morning when we heard that tell-tale hiccuping sound that means the cat is about to throw up all over something we want to keep clean. Some nights, including this one, Mariel sleeps curled up right next to my head and on my pillow, so this was extra bad. I went from peaceful sleep to shoving Mariel off the bed and hollering "Get off! Get off!" in less than 1 second. I got her off the bed, and while Mariel was throwing it into reverse on our rug, I looked over to see Josh had jumped entirely out of bed and was frozen in the hockey goalie ready position with a bewildered look on his face. Here is our favorite T-Bird, Calvin Pickard, demonstrating.
I thought this was hilarious, and soon we were both laughing at the situation and our reactions. It is nice to know that at 1am Josh is ready to defend me against anything, even if it just means getting the rug out of the room so we can go back to sleep.
